3 things your yoga instructor wants you to know
We all know the benefits of yoga: improved balance, flexibility and mindfulness to name a few. But I started to wonder if there were things my instructor knows that I don’t. I reached out to a friend of mine, a yoga instructor of 5+ years, and she shared a few tips:
1. Have grace with yourself.
Your mindset will work for or against you. For example, thinking “I can’t hold this pose any longer,” versus thinking “I am strong and capable, I can hold anything for three more breaths” can make all the difference in the world.
2. I’m not judging you.
“Wherever you are today in your practice is perfect,” she explained. She thought of one student in particular. He wasn’t able to perfect every pose, but his commitment to class made him a standout student.
