Welcome to the 7-Day Happiness Challenge! This week is all about giving our mental and emotional health the attention they deserve.
After all, happiness has never been more important than it is right now. And the benefits of exercise are as much mental as they are physical. Regular movement reduces anxiety, boosts energy, improves body image, and offers a welcome way to form meaningful connections with others—even virtually!
How the 7-Day Happiness Challenge Works
Each day, SilverSneakers Master Trainer Sharlyn Green will guide you through a gentle, fun, invigorating workout designed to support your mental health. If you start the challenge late, no problem—just jump right in.
- Day 1: Warm Up Your Mood
- Day 2: 20-Minute Tension Tamer
- Day 3: 15-Minute Energizing Yoga Flow
- Day 4: Breathe for Better Health
- Day 5: 4-Minute Bedtime Yoga
- Day 6: Walking Meditation
- Day 7: Boost Your Confidence
All you need is yourself and some open floor space. Some exercises are shown performed on the floor, but if you prefer, you can use any flat, stable surface. If you’d like support during any of the exercises, set up near a wall or have a sturdy chair nearby. It’s also helpful to have water, and you should feel free to sip as you need.
To keep tabs on your effort, use a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the hardest. You can ramp up or dial down as you need, but you generally don’t want to go higher than 7. As you move, keep breathing, and prioritize good form.
As always, safety is key. The exercises here may be different or more advanced than those you’ll experience in a SilverSneakers class. If you have a chronic condition, an injury, or balance issues, talk to your doctor about how you can exercise safely.
